I'm Samantha Thomas and I am excited to announce my daughter Ellie and I are supporting the Doug Flutie Jr Foundation for Autism, by running the 5K & 10K together at Walt Disney World for Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend this November!
Why we are running-
New England born and raised we couldnt be more thrilled to be supporting such a worthy organization that not only we relate to, but that is so close to home. As a mother of a severely special needs child I understand the hardships families face without these organizations to help them. The Flutie Foundation helps the autistic community in so many great ways. Some of these ways are:
Offering grants for communcation devices
Safety equipment such as tracking devices - for those who tend to wander
Sponsoring an adaptive watersports program in Boston during the summer months
Giving financial grants to many New England based organizations that support the community as a whole

My name is Ellie Thomas, and I am excited to be fundraising for The Doug Flutie Foundation. This organization is important to me because my older brother Christafer is special needs, so I know how important it is for him to get therapy and services for a better life.
I couldnt be more proud of Ellie for taking her love of running and combining it with her desire to help people that face similiar difficulties as her brother. She has been hard at work training, as this will be her first 10K race.
