Dancing With the Stars Dubuque Style
June 2021 - Five Flags Theater

Support local celebrity, Brock Renbarger, as he dances for Junior Achievement of the Heartland!

Brock is a JA Classroom Volunteer and Board Member.  He started volunteering for Junior Achievement as a way to give back to the community and to help students develop a foundation for good financial decisions.  Little did he know when he first started teaching that he would find the JA experience just as rewarding for him as it is for the students.

He shared, “My favorite moment from JA was when a parent of one of my students told me their child asked them if something was “a want or a need”.  This is one of the lessons I had taught months prior.  It made me happy to know the lessons were sticking with the kids.”

Brock wants all kids in our community to feel confident in their ability to manage their money wisely.  He personally did not benefit from JA as a student, but was fortunate to have a grandfather who talked to him about personal finance and set a good example for Brock to follow.  Brock knows not every child has a role model, like his grandfather, in their life.  Brock sees firsthand how JA fills that void.

He commented, “JA provides a structured curriculum that all students can benefit from.  It’s important we offer JA programs to our schools.  The positive impact of JA in our community will only compound exponentially for future generations.  As each student grows up and makes important decisions it will not only effect the students, but their future kids, grandkids, and so on.”

All proceeds Brock raises through Dancing with the Stars Dubuque Style 2020 go toward funding JA programs in Dubuque. Programs are offered to local schools at no cost to the school, educator, and student. JA provides programming to more than 4,400 students in 35 schools.

About Junior Achievement:

JA's mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.

Junior Achievement fosters the future success and economic health of young people and the communities in which they live. We do this by providing hands-on elementary and secondary programs focused on work-readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship. Through these programs and the support of businesses and individuals, JA reinforces the relevancy of schools' curriculum and empowers young people to own their economic success.
