East Cooper Medical Center is leading a community effort to provide local children struggling with hunger with a healthy breakfast during the summer through its Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive benefitting the Lowcountry Food Bank .The drive runs June 6-13.

Currently, 1 in 5 children in the Lowcountry go to bed hungry and 11.4% of our neighbors do not know where their next meal will come from.

Many are still recovering from economic effects of the pandemic and along with increasing inflation many of our neighbors are forced to reach back out for additional support from the Lowcountry Food Bank.
