What is the Engage for Change Journal?

The Engage for Change Journal seeks your help! As a newly emerging, community-based publication, it aims to contribute to public knowledge and public engagement on important issues affecting the Lancaster County region.

What will your donations support?

In the spring of 2022, we published our first issue on the theme of environmental justice.  In the spring of 2023, we published our second issue on the theme of gender justice.  We seek funding for our third issue, which will cover equity and justice in education, and we will use the funding to hire four interns to help us take the Journal to the next level by increasing the number and diversity of published authors.

Your funding will invest in student talent to help them gain professional editorial and publishing experience; specialized skills in marketing, outreach, web design, and project management, and career-ready skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Your funding will illuminate important issues that the Lancaster community is facing and serve to bridge the University and community together to look for potential resolutions to these issues.

We are seeking $6,600 to fund 4 student internship positions for the Fall of 2024 to capture diverse academic and community voices writing on significant public issues.

How does the Journal benefit the academic and local community?

The Journal benefits:

  • Students by allowing them to develop their professional identities and leave digital footprints of their academic work
  • Faculty by allowing them to work with students to have their voices heard
  • Community members by inviting them to join the conversation to share problems and seek solutions for issues that affect them
  • Writers by offering personalized editing experience to become published authors
  • Everyone by providing the opportunity to become published authors and informed readers on important political, social, and economic issues
