I started this fundraiser to honor my beautiful, strong, heart warrior nephew Anthony Joseph. 

Anthony was diagnosed at 20 weeks in-utero with a Hypoplastic Transverse Arch, a Coarctation of the Aorta and a Ventricular Septal Defect. He was born on August 31st 2023 and underwent a successful open heart surgery on September 6th, 2023. 

Before Anthony was diagnosed with Congenital Heart Defect, I was not aware of the statistics on children born with CHD's. More research is needed to find out the causes of these defects and how we can prevent and care for them in the future. 

• Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect in the United States. Nearly one of every 110 babies is born with a CHD.
• Each year approximately 40,000 babies are born in the United States with a congenital heart defect. This equates to 1 child every 15 minutes.

Anthony underwent surgery at Cohen's Childrens Medical Center and received the most amazing care from his doctor's and nurses. We could not have been happier with the care he received. 

I will be running the Disney Princess 5k and Half Marathon during the Princess Marathon Weekend in February 2024. I will be running for Hearts that Race in order to raise money for CHD in honor of my Anthony.
