ERS 2026 Gala

Elevator Repair Service (ERS) is a New York City-based theater company that creates original works with an ongoing ensemble that explore and challenge the fundamentals of live performance. ERS is committed to risk-taking and reinvention, blending unusual texts with innovations in theatrical form. Pieces draw from a wide range of source material, including classic literature, contemporary plays, and Supreme Court transcripts.

Founded in 1991, ERS’s avant-garde work has made us one of NYC’s most acclaimed theater groups. ERS has created an extensive body of work, including 20 full-length and 8 short pieces. Over the past 30+ years, ERS has toured to almost two dozen countries.
