The UIHC Department of Anesthesia is thrilled to take part in the annual FAER Academic Giving Competition supporting the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER)!
Many of you know FAER. Some of you have received a FAER grant, participated in its MSARF or RSP programs, or served as mentors for its grantees. Since 1982, the Department of Anesthesia at UIHC has received 16 grants from FAER, including Mentored Research Training Grants, New Investigator Awards, and Research Starter Grants. In any case, we all benefit from FAER’s work.
The University of Iowa has also recently hosted funded medical students from across the country as summer research fellows.
We all know the critical importance research represents to our field – research that wouldn’t be possible without ensuring a steady inflow of researchers into the specialty ready to move anesthesiology and medicine forward.
In pursuit of that goal, every year FAER awards over $2.5 million in grants and sponsors more than 100 student fellows and resident scholars!

Last year we were 1st place in total fundraising for small tier program (less than 110 faculty members) with 26 donors. Our goal is to increase our total number of donors! Let’s beat that this year!
For our win, we received a plaque and we received Dr. Meghan Lane-Fall to give a Grand Rounds and we were given support for a pizza party for the residents.
