On October 8, 2016 Dylan fell approximately 2 stories resulting in a traumatic brain injury that has left him in a vegetative state. He no longer requires a trach but still has a feeding tube and requires total assistance. He is nonverbal and responds to some commands but inconsistently. He recently had a shunt placed to help with hydrocephalous, and shortly after began having seizures. His seizures are now well controlled and he has started a new medication, Amantadine, in hopes of increasing his responsiveness. Although he has not progressed as far as we have hoped he would at this point we do still believe that he will progress more and we do still see Dylan in his eyes. 

This is a world that we never thought that we would be a part of and we are attempting to navigate it that best we can. Our hopes with the walk is that we will be able to have some fun, maybe some laughs but also sort of have an outlet to feel that although this is out of our control we can do something about it.
