Welcome

We're thrilled to announce our 15th Annual Down Syndrome Awareness Walk, taking place at Town Center Park in Grand Chute on Saturday, October 5th!

Yes, you heard it right—this year, we have a NEW location! Rest assured, our 15th Annual Awareness Walk promises the same wonderful, family-friendly experience you've come to cherish over the years, just in an exciting new setting. After extensive searching, we're delighted about this change. While it may differ slightly from what we're accustomed to, it presents us with fantastic opportunities!

Please visit the DETAILS page for information on parking, the walk route, and park maps.

In 2023, thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we hosted numerous FREE or low-cost family events, provided over 850 hours of direct services, welcomed 40 participants to in-person group programs, hosted the Extraordinary Adventures Summer Camp, acquired a 12-passenger van for outings, and much MORE! It's truly astounding—thank you!

We depend on the incredible backing of our community to bring these events and services to life. The majority of our activities and programs are made possible by this annual Awareness Walk, and we need YOUR support to keep them thriving. Join us!

AMAZON WISH LIST

We've created an Amazon Wish List for raffle basket items for the walk! Many people have expressed a desire to donate but can't put together an entire basket, so we hope this offers an easy solution. We've added (and will continue to add) items that can be combined to make baskets. Most items are $20 or less, and if you purchase an item, it will be shipped directly to the DSAW - Fox Cities office, where our volunteers will create amazing raffle baskets.

Meet Our 2024 Walk Ambassador: Kendra Schroeder

Meet Our Walk Ambassador!

Hi everyone! I'm Kendra, I'm 24 years old and I love my family more than anything. I have two awesome sisters, Emily and Katie, and even though they don't live at home anymore, it's always a special day when we're together. I have a big family, and I get really excited about celebrating birthdays!

I love going out and my favorite food is a deluxe cheeseburger with onions and all the fixings! I also enjoy a good Friday fish fry and can't resist chocolate ice cream with Oreos on top.

I spend my days at DSAW-FC with my amazing teacher, Maddy, and all my friends. I learn new things through STA and enjoy the outings we go on with Rad Rec. I've been truly blessed by all the learning and growth since I started a couple of years ago.

Favorite Walk Memory

My favorite part of the DSAW Walk is having my family and friends come to support me. One year, even though my Grandpa couldn't walk far, he still came and marched with us, which meant a lot to me. I love seeing everyone come together to enjoy a fun-filled day at the park. Wearing matching shirts, getting my face painted, and enjoying a delicious lunch are just a few things that make the day memorable. Oh, and the year I won a huge raffle basket was SO FUN!

Favorite DSAW Activity

I love every day I get to spend at STA and Rad Rec. They both teach me and help me discover new things. I really enjoy interacting with friends my age too.

Why I'm Looking Forward to Being This Year's Walk Ambassador

I'm excited to share with others in my community how wonderful DSAW-FC is and all the different programs they offer. Maybe through me, others will want to check it out and join me for lots of fun and learning!
