Logan was diagnosed with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) in June 2020, just after his 2nd birthday. We had no idea what this meant for our family or for Logan's future. Although we couldn't be more proud of Logan, having a child with ASD is emotionally draining and financially difficult. There is no cure for ASD and the cause is unknown.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) affects a person's reasoning, social interaction and communication. It can affect the functioning and development of the brain and is usually evident before a child turns three years old. It is a spectrum disorder, which means there is a wide variation in how it affects children. - Fraser Health Authority
Individuals with ASD need early intervention in order to have a successful future. Unfortunately, health insurance companies pay very little to none of the costs, leaving families with large out of pocket bills or unable to get the help they need for their child. Depending on the individual needs of the child, they may need many different therapies. On average, one hour of therapy costs over $200.
We have spent, and will continue to spend, thousands of dollars on imperative therapies for Logan. Individuals with ASD tend to have sensory processing issues as well. We have spent hundreds of dollars on toys and tools to help Logan get though each day.
Donations like yours can help families get the therapy, tools and help they need for their child. Please consider donating.
Thank you!!
