As part of the Foundation of San Mateo County Libraries, we have initiated a fundraiser 'Read and Raise' for the month of July 2022. We are doing our part to read and raise funds and awareness for San Mateo Libraries to continue to provide free, fast and quality access to libraries and foster a culture that supports free speech and intellectual freedom.
During this month, I aim to read 'banned books' which are banned or censored for their perspective; to learn and understand a perspective that is not a 'cliche' about communities, politics, justice, freedom, feelings and one's own self.
I urge you to join hands with us (by donating, reading a banned book or spreading awareness) and support FSMCL in promoting a culture that encourages freedom of expression and speech.
