Food is a huge passion for Yaniv Cohen. His love of food began at an early age, helping his mother cook and set the table. Growing up in a Sephardic Jewish family, with North African and Middle Eastern roots, food was and still is a passion, a way of life. For Yaniv, every holiday had its unique set of incredible, beautifully spiced dishes. He was always fascinated with the colors, scents and combinations.
His goal as “The Spice Detective” is to share his passion and inspire others to enjoy the benefit of wholesome, real ingredients in a way that will not intimidate any level cook.
In 2018, Yaniv opened Jaffa in Miami, an Israeli-Mediterranean restaurant, inspired by spices and family traditions. He is also the author of My Spiced Kitchen cookbook and the winner of the Netflix cooking competition “Best Leftovers Ever.”
