Gus Busters Walks again!
Well! Well! Well!
Yes, boys and girls, it’s me again, your four-footed old-person walker, Gus, reaching out to say hello and to ask if you would join my team again this year as me and old Methuselah (the old guy walking behind me) once again walk to raise funds for one of his favorite organizations, FriendshipWorks.
This year, “The Walk to End Elder Isolation” will be both in person and virtual. That’s right, this year we’re walking for real--and we are hoping that you will join our team. The Walk to End Elder Isolation will take place on Sunday, May 15 in Jamaica Plain, as two-footed and four-footed walkers stroll around Jamaica Pond. We are hoping that you will join us, in person, through your financial support, or both.
The Walk is FriendshipWorks’ biggest community event and provides funding for critical programming to help isolated elders in the greater Boston area.
This year Me and the old man have set a fund raising goal of $8,000 for our team. Why $8,000? Well, this year “Mr. Youngblood” turns 80 (if he stays awake long enough!), and for some bizarre reason, the number 8 is a favorite number of his (go figure!).
If you prefer to donate by check rather than on line, please make your check payable to FriendshipWorks and mail it to their address on the home page. Be sure to put Gus Busters in the memo line.
So let’s get ready to step up and step out! It’s been a challenging year, but with your help we can make this year a better, brighter, and safer one for those elders for whom we provide services.
Thanks and happy tail wags!
