About Zeno
There is no such thing as a life lived without math. Beyond grades and test scores, Zeno changes hearts and minds so children of all backgrounds know that they too can be a doer and lover of math. By starting early, making math fun, including families, and working with community-based partners, we are removing the barriers that families of color face in accessing early math tools and resources.
Today more families and providers are self-identifying as math people, specifically our surveys show twice as many families and providers are saying that they “strongly agree” that they identify as a math person as a result of their work with Zeno.
This year Zeno distributed 27,000 early math games to nearly 5,000 families across 165 partner sites in Washington State during the 2021-2022 school year.
Why Zeno Matters to Me!
The power math has to open doors of opportunity is very personal to me. As a young person I got an early introduction to technology and engineering concepts through a summer program for communities of color. Math was a foundation for me being able to pursue my goals in this field. Without math and a non-profit reaching out to the community I don't believe I would have realized all the options available in a STEM field. Fast forward years later, math became the stepping stone for our son to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. I want to see more youth have more options and more open doors in their future. Zeno's vision and mission seek to do just that. That's why I am so excited about Zeno's work and this 20th year milestone. Let's break some limits!!!
