Spotlight: Clint Hamel

Clint Hamel is Gateway's Business Development Coordinator in Southern Illinois and the St. Louis Metro East area as well as a former PGA Professional.  He inspired the revival of this annual Gateway tradition and has been central to planning a stellar event for our participants. Thank Clint for advocating for the sleeve of Titleist ProV1x in our swag bag!

Clint is also in long term recovery and a proud alumnus of Gateway's treatment program and will be a featured speaker at our brief breakfast program before we kick off our day of play.

Gateway Golf Tournament

A Renewed Community Tradition

Gateway Foundation's first annual golf tournament since the 1990s, welcomes business, civic and sector leaders, donors, alumni, and other stakeholders based in Southern Illinois and the Metro East area to Arlington Greens in Granite City, Illinois. Gateway leadership, staff, and sponsors will lead networking opportunities at a breakfast reception before the shotgun scramble tournament begins. Join us in what Gateway aims to make a sought-after annual networking and community strengthening opportunity for years to come.

THE NEED

The leading cause of death for Americans under 50 today is overdose. The New York Times has dubbed the COVID-19 pandemic a “national relapse trigger”. New provisional data released by the federal government estimates that nearly 108,000 people died from drug overdoses from January to December, 2021. Uncertain times combined with social isolation have taken an immense toll on people with substance use disorders, making the present an urgent time to support and strengthen treatment programs and recovery resources.

THE IMPACT

In fiscal year 2022, Gateway Foundation served over 37,000 clients across 8 states including: 16 Illinois community division sites; gateway connect virtual recovery platforms; and corrections and community corrections division programs, which have a significant and transformative presence in St. Louis.

Gateway's Mission, History & Work

Gateway is a recipient of the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, serving clients through its community and corrections divisions, and as of 2020 its burgeoning online platform gatewayconnect.

Gateway specializes in SUD interventions at 16 Illinois facilities: Chicago, Gurnee, Skokie, Lake Villa, Aurora, Joliet, Pekin, Springfield, Jacksonville, Swansea, Caseyville, Carbondale, Skokie, and Downers Grove. Expert clinicians understand that addiction is a disease of the brain and should be treated with addiction medicine using the best practices healthcare has to offer. Accessibility to Gateway treatment combats the ongoing national and regional addiction crisis.
