Gateway Foundation is a national, non-profit organization committed to reducing substance abuse and co-occurring mental health problems through effective and efficient treatment programs.
Since its founding on Chicago’s South Side in 1968, Gateway Foundation has served over one million people with substance use disorder (SUD) and mental health challenges. Gateway is a recipient of the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, serving clients through its community and corrections divisions, and as of 2020 its burgeoning online platform gatewayconnect.
Gateway specializes in SUD interventions at 16 Illinois facilities: Chicago, Gurnee, Skokie, Lake Villa, Aurora, Joliet, Pekin, Springfield, Jacksonville, Swansea, Caseyville, Carbondale, Skokie, and Downers Grove. Expert clinicians understand that addiction is a disease of the brain and should be treated with addiction medicine using the best practices healthcare has to offer. Accessibility to Gateway treatment combats the ongoing national and regional addiction crisis. Driven by a relentless organizational culture of continuous improvement and core values of integrity, teamwork, opportunity, adaptation and compassion, Gateway is proud to be ranked among the best addiction treatment centers in the nation by Newsweek/Statistica in 2020.
