It can be easy to take what we have for granted, especially when we have a place to go when the weather gets too hot or cold, or the rain starts to fall. Unfortunately, there are hundreds in our community who cannot do the same. With the help of Phoenix Community Development, 'Gimme Shelter' is bringing awareness to the problem, and working to solve it. But we need your help!
Friday, February 16, I'll be joining a group of leaders, volunteers, and more to spend the night outside the Peoria Riverplex in a cardboard box. All night long, the goal is to experience whatt it's like to be outside in the Central Illinois cold, something those who are unhoused face every night of the year. With your help, the money we raise for Phoenix will provide housing and outreach for those that need a helping hand across our community. While you don't have to sleep outside, you can help me by making a donation to the cause!
We will also be broadcasting live from the site we're sleeping at during our Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday evening newscasts. Be sure to tune in to 25News for a local news event unlike any other!
