Join us for Gimme Shelter, an unforgettable event where you'll spend the night outside--in your vehicle or a cardboard box.  It's an eye-opening experience that helps raise awareness about homelessness in Central Illinois and supports Phoenix Community Development Services' mission to end homelessness for good. 

What is Gimme Shelter???

Gimme Shelter is our annual fundraiser that invites participants to step into the shoes of thoses experiencing homelessness, if only for one night.  This event will take place on the evening of Friday, February 21, 2025.  You can participate in person at the RiverPlex in Peoria, Illinois, or take part virtually from the comfort of your own home--or any location.  

Why Participate???

• Raise awareness about the daily struggles of those without a home. 
• Unite our community in the fight to end homelessness.  
• Gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness in Central Illinois. 
• All funds raised will directly suppport Phoenix Community Development Services' work in providing permanent supportive housing and homeless outreach services. 

By taking part, you'll not only feel the impact of homelessness firsthand, but you'll also be helping provide critical resources to those who need them most. 

How it Works

1. Sign up & fundraise:  We'll give you all the tools you need to get started, and we encourage you to rally your friends, family, and colleagues to support your efforts!
2. Sleep outside:  Choose to participate in person or virtually.  Either way, you'll experience a night of solidarity for a cause that's close to all of our hearts.  
3. Make a difference:  Your efforts will directly benefit those in need in our community.
