When Trump was elected president, we cried like many others. For us, the language he hurled against immigrants during his campaign and now during his presidency wasn't just politics, it was personal. JoJo's great-grandparents and Jessica's dad both came from Mexico. We have friends and colleagues who are direct recipients of the DACA program. And the rhetoric that "Mexico is sending us its worst," that America is being overrun with drug dealers and murders, isn't the reality we seen in our daily lives, including in our families. 

Now millions of immigrants are excluded from any stimilus support for COVID-19, including those who pay their taxes. Ironically, COVID-19 has laid bare that many of the most "essential" workers are immigrants who keep our food and medical industry drumming.  

Today, OneAmerica grassroot leaders are mobilizing to pass both federal and state policies to make sure that immigrants get the support we all deserve in response to COVD-19. OneAmerica leaders are fighting:

• TO INCLUDE ALL OF US. We’ll ensure undocumented immigrants, “gig” workers and other excluded workers are included in local, state and federal stimulus initiatives.
• TO HAVE THEIR BACK. We’ll ensure that providers have protective equipment, training and financial resources to preserve child care and early learning services for essential workers and their families.
• TO CLOSE THE TECH GAP. We’ll move school districts and colleges to address the educational inequities amplified by the pandemic, closing the technology gap for immigrants, English learners, and students of color.
• TO TELL OUR STORY. We’ll tell our immigrant story – emphasize our contributions, our unity and power – to counter growing xenophobic attacks on our communities.
