We are in this together - join me.

HOW ARE YOU FEELING?

During this time, there's not a lot that can keep my spirits up. I am, like many of you, going through a million emotions a day. Fear, uncertainty, anger, hopelessness- when I read the news, when I see members of my family become unemployed, when I see the actions of our president and politicans. Calm, joy, laughter, love - when I video chat with my loved ones, when I see our communities come together to help those most vulnerable, when I play with my pups. There is so much going on - but one thing that has been a consistent source of power and strength for me has been OneAmerica, the organization I have the privilege to work for.

WHAT BRINGS YOU HOPE?

You all know that I wear my identity as a daughter of immigrants with pride and love. Our immigrant communities were already in crisis before the pandemic began and it has served as a way to lay bare the structural inequities that have only worsened as a result of COVID-19. The resilience, power, and love my family has demonstrated during my life is reflected time and time again at OneAmerica. Our leaders are continuing to mobilize to take care of their communities. Many immigrants have been left out of federal stimulus packages and relief due to their undocumented status, including many of my own family members. Navigating a pandemic with fear of your health alongside trying to find ways to feed your family is something no one should have to endure. Our immigrant communities have been hit hard - but I find hope in each story I hear from our leaders at the frontlines and in each meeting where I hear folks gearing up to continue the fight for our rights.

HOW ARE YOU  MOBILIZING?

Seeing as our federal government doesn't have our backs. OneAmerica, along with our leaders and over 430 organizations have launched a campaign asking Governor Inslee and our Washington State legislators to include us all by:

  • Creating a Washington Worker Relief Fund that provides economic assistance to undocumented Washingtonians
  • Creating a permanent system that gives undocumented immigrants access to unemployment insurance

Together, we are making our voices heard to ensure ALL Washingtonians recieve the care they need, no matter where we were born, the color of our skin, or our immigration status.

WILL YOU JOIN ME?

I know it's a hard time for us all, but I hope you can join me in supporting OneAmerica's work with a donation that is meaningful to you. I hope that together, we can continue to build power with, and for, immigrants in our communities.
