My name is Juan Monje and I am a OneAmerica leader. I work in the memory care department at an assisted living facility. I’m on the front lines of keeping my patients safe since they are at greater risk for COVID due to their age. Like many health care professionals right now, we don’t have personal protective equipment (PPE).
That’s frightening because it makes it more likely that I’ll contract COVID, spread it in the assisted living facility, or even bring it home to my wife. So many immigrants work in my field and are facing similar challenges. Although the current work conditions are not improving, we still show up to work, our families depend on us.
