I started working at OneAmerica in 2018, with the Washington New Americans (WNA) program. The WNA program helps people become citizens, and this work has been deeply meaningful to me, especially as my own parents have applied for naturalization during this time. I have seen firsthand the positive impact citizenship can have on people's lives. When asked why they want to become citizens, some of our past applicants have shared:

• "Becoming a citizen will help me get a better job."
• "[It] just felt right, more like who I am."
• "I applied because I don't want to be taken away from my kids. It will have a great impact on my life, because now I can have better rights."
• "I want to vote!"
• "It would change my life, being more relaxed living here, with less worry."
• "[I want] to have more freedom of travel to visit my family."

I believe everyone deserves this - to feel safe, to be able to support their family, to feel validated and empowered in the place they call home. If you agree, I am asking you to GiveBIG to help us make this a reality for all immigrants. 

We have seen what spiteful immigration policy looks like. Now we have an opportunity to make real change that doesn't just undo the harm that was done in the last four years.
