Hey everyone! For those that know me, you know I have had multiple heart surgeries in the past, last one being 5 years ago. I was born with ASD, VSD and an enlarged aorta. While that has all been repaired, I also had my pulmonary valve replaced due to complications from repairing my holes. My daughter was also born with a VSD and that was recently repaired with great success. I have always wanted to find a way to give back to the hospitals and clinics who have done so much for me in the past and I have finally found a way to do that. I have always considered myself an athlete as I participated in golf, hockey and soccer in high school, but was never much for the running part. About 5 years ago I decided to take up running and in 2014, 11 months after having my pulmonary valve replaced, I completed my first half marathon. I did another one the following year as well as a few 5ks and 10ks. I have taken the last couple years off as I have welcomed 2 children into the world. I recently completed a 10k about 3.5 months after my littlest was born. I haven’t quite decided if it was a great decision, but I survived!  I am teaming up with Children’s Hospitals and clinics of MN and their Team Superstars to give back. I will be running the Grandmas half marathon In Duluth in June 2019. I have a fundraising goal of $750, but my hope is to blow that goal out of the water. The funds are considered a donation and I am directing all the funds I raise to the heart program. Thank you for listening to my story.
