As a nurse at Children's Minnesota it is evident on a daily basis how different this amazing organization truly is, especially at accommodating and anticipating patient and family needs.  Any hospitalization can be extremely stressful for a family, regardless of the length of stay.  This year instead of just running Grandma’s for something to do, I wanted it to mean more, to benefit something that I whole-heartedly believe in.   Through a number of fantastic professionals and programs, children and families who come to Children’s Minnesota for care receive excellent anticipatory programs all aimed at assisting both the patient but also the family through the hospital stay.

All my fundraising efforts this year will benefit the Child and Family Services department.  This program encompasses a wide array of individuals who all seek success in making a child’s hospitalization as easy and painless as possible.  Seeing the face of a child light up while playing an instrument with music therapy, or another who might be painting or coloring to pass the time demonstrates simple examples of the ways Children’s Hospital incorporates the needs of children to help them heal.  This program is vital to the patients we see everyday, they are the most amazing people and deserve nothing short of the best care.
