Why I'm Involved in the Club...

I first got involved in the Boys & Girls Club out of college to hold me over until I was able to find a "real job". It quickly came to my attention that nothing could be more real than working with kids. Kids know when you're being fake with them, when you're lying to them, when you just don't feel like being there and whether good or not, they'll let you know it. Kids will always "keep it real." As tough and draining as working with kids can be a times, it only takes that one moment when you see your work truly making a difference in a kid's lfe or bringing them joy, that you're quickly filled back up and reminded of why you've stayed all these years.

Now that i've moved on as an Athletic Director with the Club, I no longer get to experience those day to day interactions with children. Now, communicating with parents and coaches has become more of the daily duty, but there are definitely days where parents and coaches make you long for the tiresome days of working with kids again. :) However, I don't underestimate the value and importance that youth sports has on our kids, as I once was one of those kids. Running youth sports can be tough, but I grew up playing sports at the Bellevue Boys & Girls Club and my dad was often the coach. I wouldn't trade anything for some of those friends, memories and experiences that I gained from those times and programs here at the club. I know many of you had some of those same experiences, whether in athletics or other youth development programs and if not, i'm hoping you're able to at least recognize their importance and help out in a way where kids in this community can gain those same joys and experiences many of us were given. The reputation that kids in Bellevue have no real need is false. I've seen them. I've worked with them. Today i'm asking the community, if you're able, to please help us to help them, towards a great future.

Get ready to BE GREAT!

GREAT FUTURES DAY is an All IN community campaign to make sure every youth has a great future!

DID YOU KNOW?

  • There are 96 languages spoken in Bellevue School District and every child has a voice at the Boys & Girls Club.
  • Currently, there are hundreds of kids who are not able to access the club’s services because we lack the scholarship funds to open the doors for those kids this year.
  • The need is greater than ever. The Club serves 60,000 meals and snacks each year and your support will make sure kids continue to have a stable food source

WE NEED YOUR HELP to continue bringing these life-changing programs and services to every child in our community.
