As many of you know, I love to cycle.  During the month of May, I will ride my bicycle with the intention of bringing awareness and raising funds for my patients and others living with an MPN. 

Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are rare bone marrow disorders including polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, and myelofibrosis.  They can have a devastating impact on a person's health and quality of life.  As a hematologist I care for these patients on a daily basis.  I am honored to take part in their journey, and inspired by their strength and perseverance.

Having a rare disorder is challenging to say the least.  It can be difficult to access information and find clinical trial opportunities. Organizations like MPN Research Foundation are critical to providing information, education and support to patients.  Through a combination of MPN cancer research, advocacy and education, this organization unites patients, researchers, and clinicians around the common goal of realizing new treatment options and ultimately, a cure for MPNs.

The amazing work done by the MPN-RF is sustained by donations.
