Why we support the GVC
Volunteers are the heart of GVC!
Formed in 1989, Gunpowder Valley Conservancy (GVC) is a Baltimore County-based land trust and watershed restoration nonprofit. When you donate to our team fundraising page, your tax-deductible donation helps GVC promote and work for:
Clean drinking water from Prettyboy and Loch Raven Reservoir
Climate resiliency through native tree plantings and preserved lands
Community pride in neighborhood streams that have regular clean-up events
Pollinator habitat that also filters pollutants and reduces standing water
Each year, GVC hosts between 1,000-2,000 volunteers who complete thousands of hours of service to protecting and restoring the Gunpowder Watershed. There are many dedicated volunteer leaders who help us train new volunteers, lead groups in stream cleanups and tree plantings, and assist in critical behind-the-scenes work
Protecting our community watershed is something that should unite us all. Please help us reach our fundraising goal and make a difference for future generations!
