This Fourth Annual Gallatin Valley Packathon for Haiti will be my 10th packathon to plan. I did not create this event, but I am so grateful for partners who encouraged me to get involved. Every year people tell me how FAUBLOUS it is to meet and work with people who, like themselves, want to help others! In two hours at a packathon, you can provide lunch for a child for a year! Isn't that awesome? Makes me want to get busy and do it again!
Along with about 4 tons of vitamin fortified rice, beans, and dehydrated vegetables, we aim to include a healthy dose of HOPE for the children, their families, and whole community. School lunches allow families who cannot afford a meal each day to stay together. I'm all about that! How about you?
Just $30,000 will proviide for all the students at the Light and Peace School in Bois Negresse through 2024!
- $25,000 will Provide Lunches for 178 students through 2024, including the summer months! Because there is a bit of a backlog, we will pack "only" 50,000 meals this year.
- $5,000 will Provide Textbooks for all students in Bois Negresse.
I can't tell you how bad things are in Port au Prince these days. That's why we've had a hard time getting last year's meals delivered. But we have reason to believe difficulties with Haitian Customs will soon be ironed out. I am hopeful, and I never want people in Bois Negresse to think we give up on them when things get hard.
