Gallatin Valley Packathon for Haiti 2023

On October 21, we plan to pack a whole bunch of lunches--enough for a school full of Haitian students to enjoy every weekday through 2024! And we would love to finance the food we pack as well!

Individuals will be working for two hours with more than a hundred other local volunteers at Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman. Together, we'll assemble vitamin fortified lunches of rice, beans, and dehydrated vegetables.

Packathon goals:

$25,000 will Provide Lunches for 178 students through 2024, including the summer months! Because there is a bit of a backlog, we will pack "only" 50,000 meals this year.
$5,000 will Provide Textbooks for all students in Bois Negresse.

A few things about Haiti:

Only 60% of adults can read at a 6th grade level.
Their government is in disarray due to gang violence in the capitol, but in Future Forward for Haiti' partner communities in the mountains, school continues each day.
The average income is $350 per year.
Some children cannot count of even one meal a day.
