It seems like the news from everywhere is bad. Personally, I’m watching Haiti, waiting to see if the Kenyan-led international force will manage to clean up gang violence around Port au Prince. But I'm not waiting. You know me--I'm eager to work with Future Forward for Haiti on another Gallatin Valley Packathon to provide school lunches for the kids in Bois Negresse.
In all my 11 years of directing packathons, both the the food we pack and the money we send for local provisions have always arrived safely, so I am enthusiastic to keep sharing! We are not helpless! We are making a good difference!
Nothing draws a child to class like regular school lunches. Nothing gives that growing child options for future success like education. The thing that tickles me most is knowing that children now plan and work to be promoted to the next grade at the end of each school year, which was not the norm before. So would you join me in this successful project?
Here's what we need:
- $30,000 to buy food for packing, or for local provisions in Haiti, if necessary
- 300 Montana volunteers teaming up on October 19 to assemble rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and vitamix into nutritious school lunches for 190 students.

We will meet at Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman for three 90 minute packing sessions from 9-10:30 am, 11:30 am -1 pm, or 2 - 3:30 pm. It feels so good to be a part of good news!
