I'm on a mission to Bois Negresse, Haiti,
With Future Forward for Haiti's Gallatin Valley Packathon
I'm fundraising to help kids in Bois Negresse, Haiti, so they can have lunch every school day. But I'm not walking a 5K or skipping rope--I'll pack the lunches!
Let me tell you a few things about Haiti:
Only 60% of adults can read at a 6th grade level.
Their government does not provide school to rural communities.
The average income is $350 per year.
Some children cannot count of even one meal a day.
With hundreds of other volunteers, I will help assemble vitamin fortified lunches of rice, beans, and dehydrated vegetables to send for students at the Light and Peace School in Bois Negresse (trans. Blackwood). We will work at Hope Lutheran Church, 2152 West Graf Street in Bozeman for four 120 minute sessions;
- Raise $40,000 for packing ingredients
- Provide lunches for 200 students through 2023, including the summer months!
Pack at least 240 meals, and
Raise at least $100 to actually finance enough school lunches for one child for a year! That's today's challenge!
Can you help me? The children who will receive these meals cannot count on even one meal a day at home. How can they learn if they don't eat? How can they improve their lives if they don't learn? Please Donate Now to help me reach my goal of providing lunch for a student for a whole year. It's going to feel so good!
