The Reality
The youth of the country are struggling with mental health and the belief that their worth comes from what they do and not from who they are, a son or daughter of God. This has caused them to look everywhere else but to the love of God.
Our response
The Amazing Nation's goal is to bring faith and family to the center of our culture again through our vision, 'To make a world where no one suffers alone.' We do this by spreading the 'You're Amazing' Message, walking with others in their suffering, letting them know that they are not alone in it, and sharing with them the hope that God can help them overcome any struggle.
The How
We tangibly do this by going on the road and putting on events. We put on high school assemblies and retreats with our Speaker and founder, Justin Fatica, or Missionary-led events such as class retreats, confirmation retreats, and youth group retreats. we go across the country sharing our stories of what the greatest challenge has been in our lives and how God has helped us through it, and by staying in touch and encouraging kids that we have met throughout the year.
The Result
During the first event of our NY/ NJ trip, we had a long confirmation retreat to run. it was gonna be a few hours longer than they usually were. One of the kids at the event was being distracted during the talks and not participating in the small-group activities. later in the day, we had a chance for Adoration. I saw the same kid sitting to the side and I felt like I should sit next to him. He told me that he wasn't feeling good and was going to be picked up early. I was sharing my story later in the day and I wanted to share it with him. After sharing it, we sat for a while in Adoration. Abruptly, he started to share about his struggles and how his parents weren't in his life. I was able to listen and then encourage him. I know I might have been the first person he shared his struggles with and I wanted him to know that his struggles can become one of the greatest gifts he has to help others. I'm so grateful that God let me hear and treasure his story and challenges.
