About Harwood Center

Our Mission: To enable children with special developmental needs to reach their full potential.

Our Vision: To be the Mid-South’s leading educational and therapeutic resource for young children with special developmental needs and their families.

Founded in 1957, Harwood Center has served over 6,000 children from across the Mid-South who have been diagnosed with developmental disabilities, including Autism spectrum disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and rare genetic disorders. We provide early-intervention specialized preschool education and behavior therapy. Currently, we serve students at three locations throughout Memphis: Orange Mound, Cordova, and Raleigh. Harwood Center is a nonprofit organization that relies on the funding of generous donors like you. The cost to Harwood per child exceeds $30,000 annually, yet we only ask families to pay a fraction of this cost, about $7,000. To learn more, watch the video below or visit our website.
