January of 2011 began Porter's journey with Children's and Children's Heart Clinic as he was diagnosed with Congenital Fetal Heart Block.  Dr. Burton and his team determined that Porter needed a pacemaker and at 8 months old Porter had surgery to insert his pacemaker.  It is now June of 2016 and Porter is thriving and his visits with Dr. Burton are uneventful, which is a good thing!  We run the Heartbeat 5000 to support Children's and the Children's Heart Clinic as a way to give back to an amazing organization, but also to celebrate Porter!   We also run to support other families who have heart stories.  It was a touching moment when Porter's kindergarten teacher asked if we were the Porter's Pacers that run Heartbeat 5000 - come to find out her family runs as well for their son.  We couldn't have asked for a better Kindergarten teacher for Porter.   If you can, please join us this year!
