Julia was born with a heart defect that required open heart surgery at 7 weeks old. During Julia's 110 day stay at Children's Hospital we experienced great care and met many wonderful people who look part in her outcome. Julia also has a pacemaker that helps her to have a good quality of life. This is when we found out about the HeartBeat 5000, a race for children's heart health. This inspired us to form the team Julia's Beat. We are excited to say this is our 9th year participating and we raise 1000's of dollars each year.
What started out as simply giving back to the people who saved our daughter's life has turned into so much more. We walk for all children with congenital heart defects. Not all children are as fortunate as Julia. We walk for those we get to hug every day and for those who live in our hearts.
