Hope, 

At our 20 week ultrasound, we discovered Hope would be born with a congenital heart defect called DORV - Double Outlet Right Ventricle. Due Sept 7th, she was ready to get the party started on Sept 3, 2013. She knew there was a whole gang of protectors ECSTATIC to meet her and carry her through the days and weeks ahead. 

1st open heart surgery at 7 days old (to place a BT shunt) then home to chill with her brothers Evan & Jack and her kitty, Macy 2 weeks later. All was quiet until April 7th, 2014 when she had her Rastelli (a.k.a. the "big" surgery). It wasn't long before she was ready to party again. After about 2 weeks of downtime, she was on the road to recovery and spent much of that summer cheering on her big brothers in baseball.

While her big surgery took us to Boston, our home base continues to be Children's Heart Clinic in Minneapolis. We LOVE all the cardio doctor's at Children's but will always have a special place in our hearts for Dr. Dummer. We know there are more surgeries ahead but are blessed for each day we spend 'free' and decidedly as a 'normal' faimily outside the world of hospitals, surgeries and all the other crud that comes with a health event.

As of May 23, 2016 - Hope is 2 and a VERY active little lady. No medications and no restrictions. Again this year, we will be participating in the walk to raise money for the Children's Cardiovascular program...walking with her - all together for her.
