We are so thankful for Children’s Hospital Cardiology Unit for saving Lola’s life multiple times. She was born at 36 weeks with a surprise heart condition (ASD, VSD) and went into heart failure a week after birth. She spent her first weeks of life in the hospital on oxygen, monitors, feeding tubes, and medications to try to get the fluid off her lungs and get her to grow. After 5 weeks, weighing less than 5 lbs, she was no longer growing and having difficulty breathing without the help of a ventilator. She had open heart surgery to fix the holes in her heart and after 10 days of recovery we were able to take her home!

Lola spent much of her first two years of life in and out of Children’s hospital due to heart issues, feeding issues, breathing issues, reflux, and seizures. She is now 4 years old and thriving at home and at school. Our family enjoys participating in the Children’s Hospital heart walk every year to celebrate Lola’s life and health, and to thank the Cardiac unit for what they have done for us. They not only saved Lola’s life, but the staff there supported us through many difficult days and nights.

We are so thankful for our friends and family who have provided support and participated in this event with us over the years. We are looking forward to another successful year of Team Lola! Thank you for your participation!!
