Lola Victoria Johnson was born on December 31, 2010. I was on the phone with her mom, Shannon, when Shannon went into labor. Expecting news within 24 hours, I tried to patiently await word that all was well. When I didn't hear from Shannon and my messages went unanswered, I began to worry. Shannon and her husband T. Ryan learned that Lola had a congenital heart defect and needed surgery around 6 months of age. Lola's condition worsened quickly, forcing surgery to be performed soon after she was born.
Today Lola is a princess-loving 4 year old sweetheart who is a big sister to Storie and Wyatt. She is finishing her first year of preschool this month and other than the "zipline" down her chest, you'd never know she had the complicated first 18 months that she did. I walk to honor Lola and her amazing family!
