My daughter, Ava, was born with a life threatening congenital heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries. Ava endured two open heart surgeries before she was a year old. Now Ava is a happy, healthy 8 year old that will put a smile on anyone's face. This will be our 9th year participating in the HeartBeat 5000, we are very thankful for the tremendous support in raising over $10,000 in 2014 with our team Donatelle . . . Making Strides for Ava including Donatelle's sponsorship of the water stop, team participant fees and generous donations.
