I would not be here let alone running my 6th marathon without the scientific advances of CHD research. I was diagnosed at six weeks old with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and underwent open heart surgery at six months old. I was fortunate to have access to the highest quality medical care at Chicago Children's Memorial Hospital, where my family was introduced to The Children's Heart Foundation. At 5 years old, I was featured in the first fundraising brochure for CHF. I am excited to continue to amplify the incredible work of The Children's Heart Foundation as a member of Hearts That Race. CHDs have lifelong implications and I continue to need care and modifications to ensure I can live the life I dream. I run for kids like me, who dream big, have hearts bigger than most, and the capacity to love so much more. And in honor of my father, Dennis Homerin, who dedicated his life and legacy to philanthropy for The Children's Heart Foundation. Thank you for your support!
