Mason’s Story

Mason was diagnosed at 4 years old with hearing loss, he got hearing aids, we was doing great but his diagnoses never 100% made sense to us. 

In September 2015, we went to Nemours for a second opinion. Once there we knew we found our people, the people that would guide us though this for the long haul! A few short days after our initial appointment we received a new diagnoses, Mason has Auditory Neuropath Spectrum Disorder, that new diagnoses and it’s explanation finally made everything make sense. We were on the right track! 

The past year has been a BIG one! In the winter of 2017 Mason lost some additional hearing and the hearings aids were no longer giving him the benefits they once did.  With the help of our outstanding team we made the decision to move forward with Cochlear Implants! 

In September Mason received his 1st one and it was life changing!! He could hear, and hear well! The birds, the water running, his friends, his mom from another room, he can sing along with the radio…all life changing things for him! In February we moved forward with his second implant and we are now the proud recipients of two CI’s. #2ears!!!
