I’m thrilled to have been chosen as a Hero in Hats, Putting a Lid on Breast Cancer! This is a fundraiser supporting Blount Memorial Foundation's charge to raise funds to expand access to screening and diagnostic services through a new contrast injecting mammography machine. As someone who has walked the breast cancer journey, I’m passionate about this cause and need your help! Every donation—big or small—helps me reach my fundraising goal and directly impacts early detection.

I owe my life to an annual mammogram, which I routinely and thankfully began at age forty.  With no family history of breast cancer, my cancer journey was certainly unexpected.  I was shocked at the revelation and felt out of control of my life.  My family, friends, doctors and nurses led me through this difficult time in making decisions regarding treatment.

Reflecting, I know that early detection and treatment saved my life.  I am so grateful today to have lived to know my grandchildren and watch them grow.
