This is my 3rd year participating in the Hike-a-Thon and I have Big Goals! The Tennessee Land Conservancy Hike-a-thon caught my eye because I have a love for the outdoors and concerns about development reducing untouched areas for future generations to experience it. This year the Hike-a-Thon lands during a training cycle for multiple long races for me, so I am hoping to hike 50 miles during April and raise $100 for conservation efforts. The Tennessee Land Conservancy has multiple projects that are ongoing. Whether it be land acquisitions for state parks (Savage Gulf), protection of endangered or rare plant life (Tennessee Trillium (Trillium tennesseense) project), or reintroduction of native species that have been extinct in Tennessee (Red-Cockaded Woodpeckers), the projects are well researched and executed. Everyone visiting the state has the opportunity to experience the efforts of TennGreen!
