At 9 years old, I was creating trails and “forts” with my sister and cousin in the woods surrounding my aunt and uncle’s house in New Hampshire. That was the life - raking leaves that kept ending up back on the trail, catching frogs in the creek, and building tunnels in the sandbox for the salamanders. Fast forward to many, many years later and I’m still excited about being on a trail deep in the woods or on top of a mountain. After being injured and unable to hike for the last nine months, I thought this was a great way to mark my return to the mountains and give back to preserve the land and the views we cherish in Tennessee.
