Hike With Your Heart Map

Parking is available near the picnic area and park offices, and the park office side of the street.
Parking Fee: $7 per car - CASH ONLY.

Hike is approximately 2.5 miles with breaks.
Hikers of all skill levels are welcome. The hike begins with a large, long hill, and after that the trail is undulating and not very strenuous.

Dogs are welcome - especially when sporting a chic Kidsave pet bandana! - but please use loving dog owner discretion. Please keep your dog on its leash at all times, and don’t forget to bring poop bags – just in case! If your dog gets overstimulated, overwhelmed, or nervous in new environments or around other dogs, it is probably best to leave them home where they will be more comfortable.

Please stay after the hike for lunch and games!

For questions please email Hike@kidsave.org or call 323.285.3668.

PLEASE NOTE!

The Hike is both an opportunity to meet kids and a fundraising event. Some sensitivity is required toward the children and teens in foster care who will be at the hike.

Please read the guidelines below and share them with anyone else you bring to the event.

  • Treat all youth as you would any person you have never met before; respecting personal boundaries and allowing time to “warm-up” to you.
  • The kids in our program are in foster care, but we do not refer to them as “foster children” or “orphans."
  • The kids in our program are there to find forever families or lasting connections.
  • If you see a kid alone, by all means, say “hi.”
  • Please do not ask them about their circumstances or about their bio family. This is very private and can oftentimes be painful for them. Do not ask a child if he or she wants to be adopted or hosted.
  • Please don’t ask them for their contact information (phone, address, email, social media), and don’t share yours with them. If, at the end of the event, you feel inclined to learn more about a specific child and/or join the Weekend Miracles program, please see a staff member.
  • Do not take photos/video with or of the kids.
  • Do not promise a youth any future contact or communication.
  • Do not give gifts or money to the youth, or make promises to do so.  If there is something that you wish to provide the youth, please talk with Kidsave and/or the youth’s social worker.
  • Do not leave an event with a youth for any reason.  If you transported a youth and need to leave early, notify Kidsave immediately.
