We are a delegation of Ukrainian professionals coming to the Unites States to learn about local child welfare practices and to share some of our experiences . We will spend part of our time in Los Angeles to meet with Kidsave’s team and observe how their Weekend Miracles program works.

The needs in child welfare in Ukraine are enormous, especially since the war began in 2022. Even before the war, Ukraine's 100,000+ institutionalized youth were growing up without support from families they need to thrive into adulthood. It’s estimated that nearly half of Ukraine’s children and youth have been displaced since 2022, and they have untold traumas they face daily.

Kidsave’s programs in Ukraine connect older youth in government care with mentors and permanent families. We have made a big impact, but there’s still more to do. 

We are incredibly excited to attend Hike With Your Heart and to meet the community of families, donors, businesses, and organizations that support Kidsave’s work in Los Angeles.
