Hike for Kids 2024

Thank you all for joining our 13th annual Hike For Kids this past Saturday, October 19th and supporting Blue Sky programming which connects Richmond area youth to the outdoors! We are thrilled to have raised over $85,000 and having over 250 hikers participate in this years event.

BASECAMP Start and end point for Hike!

Check in opens at 8:45AM at the Virginia War Memorial, our Hike for Kids ‘basecamp’.

Please arrive at basecamp 15 to 30 minutes prior to your hiking distance start time to check in and receive your bibs, SWAG bags, and drink/food tickets for the post-Hike celebration.

Parking – The Virginia War Memorial has a parking deck that will open for our use at 8am, located at 621 South Belvidere Street. You can park in the open space at the top and go through the building to meet us in the outdoor amphitheater, or you can take the elevator from the below-ground section of the parking deck to the main lobby of the VWM and head out the doors to meet us in the outdoor amphitheater. We’ll have signage onsite to direct you to hiker check-in.

JAMES RIVER PARK SYSTEM HIKE 9:00AM to 1:30PM

Choose your own adventure! Enjoy some of the best urban trails in the country with either a 3-, 8- or 14-mile loop around the James River Park System.

8:45 AM: Check-in opens at the Virginia War Memorial
9:00 AM: 14-mile hike start time
11:00 AM: 7-mile hike start time
12:30 PM: 3-mile hike start time

Please note that online in-person registration will close on Wednesday, October 16th at 11:59 pm EST. Walk-up registration will be available onsite Saturday, October 19th starting at 8:45 am EST, with increased registration fees
