Horizons at Cristo Rey program is a year-round tuition-free, high quality academic and enrichment program serving K-8 students in North Philadelphia.

The program started in the summer of 2021 with 30 kindergarten and first grade children who all live in the neighborhood of our school, the Nicetown-Tioga section of North Philadelphia. Each summer following our launch, we will enroll a new cohort of kindergarteners until we have a fully built out K-8 program. In the summer children are invited to a six-week academic and enrichment program and in the school year they will have the option to attend a year-round after-school program. Without programs like Horizons at Cristo Rey, the children that we serve would have otherwise very limited access to high quality out of school time programming. 

Like Cristo Rey Philadelphia, the investment of generous community members has enabled Horizons at Cristo Rey to grow its impact year after year. Summer 2022, we extended programming to 48 families for our six-week summer program. And during the 2022-2023 Academic Year, we were able to grow our after-school program by expanding from two to three days a week. Summer 2023 will see us continue this growth by serving over 60 children during the summer.
