FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How much does it cost to register for HomeWalk 2020?
The registration fee is $20 for all participants.
Participation is free for minors 18 and under as long as they’re with a registered adult. Minors must still register and you can do so here.
Since there isn’t a physical event, why is there still a registration fee?
We know we can’t get together for our annual HomeWalk 5K this year, so we will celebrate “HomeWalk at Home.” To stay safe, we’re going virtual, but we cannot miss an opportunity to join together in the single largest annual fundraising event to end homelessness and to support bold solutions to bring Everyone In. Your registration fee is going toward helping power these solutions. Our community needs us now more than ever!
What will the virtual event day look like?
Spend the day doing your own 5K run/walk, share photos and videos using the #HomeWalkAtHome, then come back at 5 p.m. for our virtual program as we bring you live entertainment with the Los Angeles Rams cheerleaders, players, Coach McVay and much more.
We’ve also teamed up with the Rams cheerleaders and Rampage to bring you activities for the whole family to enjoy. That week, all registered participants will receive access to a variety of activities including kids yoga, dancing, stretching and your very own playlist with DJ Mad. Registered participants will also receive access to the virtual event taking place on Saturday, November 14th at 5 p.m. PST. This will be sent via email the week of the event. Only registered participants will have access.
Since we are going virtual, this is a fun opportunity to get friends and family involved who are near and far! Visit the Event Details page for more information.
When does registration close for HomeWalk?
Online registration will close on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 6 p.m. PST.
If I register on the day of HomeWalk, can I still donate?
Absolutely! You can make a donation in your fundraising center set up when you register or make a general donation on the HomeWalk page.
How do I register a group?
You can sign up as a Team Captain and create a team. Participants who wish to join your team must sign up first and they can follow the registration prompts to select your team name. Don’t forget, going virtual means you can have a bigger team since people can join you to #HomeWalkAtHome. Do it for the thousands of neighbors who do not have place to call home.
Once I register, can I make changes?
You can make changes to your name, address, and phone number in your user dashboard under My Registration.
To make changes to your walker or runner status, or to join a team, please send an email to email@example.com. We will do our best to respond within 1-2 business days.
Can you set up a team for us? How do we add team members?
We are unable to set up a team for you, but through the site registration platform, Qgiv, it’s much easier to create a team. To become a team captain, all you have to do is sign up as an individual and follow the prompts to create a team. Team members can join your team by signing up as individual participants and select your team.
I forgot my username, how can I retrieve it?
If you forgot your username, we recommend that you try testing all your email addresses. If that doesn’t work, we can help! Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We will do our best to respond within 1-2 business days.
How much of my donation goes to ending homelessness in L.A. County?
The path to ending homelessness is a collaborative effort that takes all of us. Your donation creates broad systemic solutions while also offering on-the-ground support that our homeless neighbors need now. This includes permanent supportive housing, strategic investments in research and innovation, capacity building, system connections, and community engagement needed to end homelessness for good.
How can I make a donation by check?
Fill out the sample donation form on the HomeWalk website. Mail the completed form and check to United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Attn: HomeWalk, 1150 S. Olive St., Suite T500, Los Angeles, CA 90015.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by the law. You must complete the hard copy donation form so that we have your information. If your donation does not exceed $250, you must request a receipt, which will then be emailed to you.
Can I participate without registering?
No. Only registered participants will have access to the virtual event and activities that are part of the program.
