In April of 2025, my mother went into the hospital with severe hip pain. A CT revealed a 17.5 cm mass on her left ovary with concern for malignancy and spread beyond her pelvis. Until that evening, when she arrived in the ER with pain, she had not experienced any significant symptoms of this mass. Just two weeks before that ER visit, she had seen her primary for an annual checkup. She reported no significant concerns during that appointment beyond a bit of hip pain and abdominal bloating. She was given a clean bill of health and told to follow up on the hip pain if it persisted. 

In early May, she was diagnosed with stage 3A Clear Cell Carcinoma with dedifferentiated metastasis to para-aortic lymph nodes. After a summer fueled by surgeries, hospitalizations, drains, infections, blood clots, chemotherapy, and progression of disease, we are determined to walk in concert on September 13 with this amazing organization that has supported our mother and family!
