As the Register explained on their front page today, many non-profits are hurting due to a lack of funds. Some of you know that I have been on and off of the board of Human Options (HO) for close to 20 years---mostly on, and currently a board member.  HO is an organization that deals with relationship issues---specifically, domestic abuse.  Our clients for the most part are women and their children trying to escape a violent relationship.  To serve their needs, we have a safe home for immediate safety, and a small apartment complex for longer term residence, where those women who do not have the means to support themselves learn relationship and vocational skills.  During this pandemic, we are operating near 100% capacity, as you can imagine why.  A little over half of our funding comes from the state and large private foundations---the balance comes from individuals and our two fund raisers, our large one in May and a smaller event in October.  Needless to say, the May event has been cancelled.  

This is the reason for my outreach.  We are in a funding crunch.  Ellen and I would like to match any donations that HO receives through our page, up to $5,000.  Any amount can help $25, $50 on up.  We realize that for many people, covid-19 is not a good time for an "ask," which is completely understandable.  Thank you for reading.  If you have an interest in learning further about HO, I can arrange for a tour of our facilities after this craziness passes us over.
